New Things.

Very sorry i have not been able to update recently school is back on and its getting harder did not help that my internet is super slow; anyway back to the business.

Since i last posted i have made no sales at all but it is what i expected as i have done nothing to market them since.
I made some flood tee-shirts where all profits would go to The Salvation Army but had no luck i still will donate any profits i make from any sales though.
Anyway i have a few tips for you today:

1- Do not be afraid to talk and ask in the community forums it is a lovely community with people who will help you without question.
2- If you haven't already i suggest you upgrade to a premium store i haven't as of yet but am looking forward to opening one.
3- Be careful of your markup's and error's while doing descriptions of products, titles, keywords you will regret it when you make no sales due to the name or tags wrong.

That is pretty much all i have learned since last sorry. I'm glad that i have a small community reading this and i thank you all very much.

An issue which amazes me

After hours upon hours of me talking to my family trying to get them to join my sister finally decided too, after about 20-25 minutes of slow internet and her taking her time playing games we finally got to the stage where she could put design's on her tee-shirts and after about five minutes of me trying to tell and show her she rage quit.
Now this disappointment's me becuase i find the interface extremely easy to use; but she isn't that into stuff like this the main reason she rage quit was becuase she had no way to make designs besides paint which brings up another issue i recommend you buy photoshop or something decent to make designs on; it lasts a life time and will surely pay for itself if your good at art.
This brings into play a key virtue you need to have patience and time to pull your shop up to standards.

So pretty much i recommend you buy photoshop and actually give cafepress a try before quitting.

I can not stress this enough!

I few little hints i have figured and learned in the last few day's it may or may not help you

  1.  Put description's on your products!
  2.  Use appropriate keywords! If your product is about dog's don't put a keyword as a famous musician.
  3. Make design's about events they sell fast!
  4. If your low on money try finding free or very cheap advertising; if you have some money laying around sign up for advertising with Google!
  5. With some money i have made from Cafepress i have reinvested in advertising so far it's going okay i recommend you try it.
  6. Make designs you would buy!
  7. Patience is a virtue
  8. Update your store often with new designs!
Sorry guy's that's all i have for this post.

My Store

My Store Link Is http://www.cafepress.com/Xenarchusa_Tees Check if out if you want :)

Hey Guys

My site tracker has noticed a few people going into this blog :) Made my day anyway todays issues:
Today Wednesday 19th Jan.
My store has made no sales for the past few days; but i thought of it in a good way and decided to post about it becuase i realized something before i even upload a design i have to think of "Would i buy it?" & if i think its good "How could it be better?" i think it's some essential things to think of before you upload a design to a product;

Some Problems With Clothing I Have Seen
This is a biggie! You want and need people to see your inspiration in your artwork; it is okay to take time and put effort in it as once you get started it runs itself Most buyers spend 5-15 seconds on average looking at your shirt or merchandise you want to get them to Laugh or think of it as Cute; whatever your trying to make it; you need them to see it as you see it.

Some Do's And Don'ts  With Cafepress.

Do!
- You want to choose a theme you know and love with little competition; like for example if your theme is pets that are cute maybe go with a less known cute animal that people wouldn't have so many shirts already designed for; if you want to get your clothes seen and bought type some keywords into the searchbox about the design your going to make and see what comes up if only 1-5 pages are there Design it!
If there is more and you CAN DO BETTER THEN THEIRS go for it.

- Make something creative that most people want (Ask your family if they would buy it; or buy it for someone else)  but remember in some cases Less Is More.

- Seasonal Clothes Will Sell A Lot (Only in that season though!)

- Make shirts for big events like for example when Obama became president; if your still in school and your teacher's are having an event like a dance or something; ask them if they want designed shirts for it and ask them if they could possibly buy yours if you design it for that event.

- Make sure your quality of the image is good!.

DONT'S!!!!

- Do not think that becuase you sold a few shirts you don't need to make your inventory better! The most successive sellers update often!

- Don't give up! that's a big one imagine a year from now; or six months even (Some do it in a lot less time) receiving a cheque for $15,000 or more! ( Please note not every one will make that amount of money) And by that $15,000 i don't mean what you've made all up i mean for that month or two.

-Do not upload copyrighted material.

- Do not copy someone's work! in the terms and conditions if you do that the original owner can get your address and pursue legal action; For a few dollars is it worth it??

Begginers Guide

Here comes the guide! Read this if you just joined Cafepress.com or aren't sure if your meant to.

I have just recently started Cafepress.com for myself; but the difference between you and i; is I've had some help i was referred and the person who referred me helped me create my store; I'm pretty much going to blog about my up's and down's with Cafepress.com with all online store's there is always a risk but what have you got to loose? i started Cafepress becuase a friend of mine told me about it and i  joined up when i was bored its probably one of the smartest thing's ive done recently.

What have you got to loose?
Absolutely nothing! With Cafepress you can publish your own books! You can create your own merchandise! But best of all and the way you make money is by selling your merchandise in the online store with the store i started with; i get 10 designs for free and it can go on any merchandise; not bad i even get 10% of all sales just for my design they print and do all the work if your serious about making money with this then you should consider a premium with them.

Can you make serious money?
By putting in some effort and time you can have a great success the first night i started my online store i set up all 10 designs.. and shared it on facebook (I recommend you do too.. you never know what your family and friends will do.) that night i sold three shirts and got a nice little commission; the point being by just clicking a button to share i sold multiple items. there has been reports of people making serious cash! go to the forums to check it out

How can i advertise for extremley cheap/free?
Nothing is completley free; you will have to put in some time and effort if your store has made some money; try giving away your shirts/merchandise but make sure to put your logo and website on it where people can easily read it for example i bought 15 shirts for "Advertising" i put one of my designs on it and down in the bottom corner i put my website and logo; i gave out these shirts in very popular areas i would only give the shirt to someone who would put it on and leave it on for the rest of the day and would hopefully wear it again; a few days after that i got a lot more views.  Another idea would be making fliers and business cards i read this somewhere when i first started about going to pick up your daily newspaper and slip some business cards/ fliers into the other papers i quite liked it but never got around to it.. be creative you will be rewarded in sales!
To the money making guide!
Advertise advertise advertise! i can not say that enough! you need to put in to get out; simple as that depending on what store you get you can change the prices do not sell them too high or too low even though you may think selling low gives more sales in some cases that's true but with the first time buyers on Cafepress.com they think higher prices is better quality; the only difference in quality is the design with these items.

What can i sell there?
Practically anything; they can even publish your own books! (I don't recommend it as the commission would be quite low)

I will be adding guides every few days with what i've learnt what i've earnt and what i've changed to make money or loose money.
